Customer.io is an event-driven lifecycle messaging platform that sends email, push, in-app, SMS, WhatsApp, LINE, and webhooks from one visual workflow builder. It bills on profiles — people plus objects like companies, products, or orders — rather than per seat, with unlimited user seats on every plan and per-unit overages for extra profiles and email volume. Its AI Agent, currently in beta and included on all tiers, has persistent memory, runs core and custom execution skills, and executes scheduled Routines; AI also shows up as LLM actions inside journeys, an AI segment builder, and an AI message translator. An MCP server ships on every plan, and data can be hosted in US or EU data centers.

2026-09-30been using customer.io for a bit now and honestly it’s made a lot of the annoying email/marketing stuff way easier we mainly use it for sending automated messages and setting up different campaigns depending on what people are actually doing, which is way better than manually trying to keep track of everything. once you get everything set up, it’s pretty nice being able to just let the automations run in the background.
there have been a few times where i’ve had to dig around to figure out why something wasn’t triggering the way i expected, but that’s probably inevitable with this kind of software. once you understand how everything connects, it’s pretty easy to use.
overall i like it. it’s one of those tools that you don’t really appreciate until you realize how much work it’s replacing. definitely still has a learning curve, but once you get past that it’s been really useful for us.
