A photo-first calorie tracker: point your camera at a meal and its AI identifies the food and estimates calories and macros without you searching a database, with barcode scanning and a “describe it” text option as backups. Notably, it was just acquired by MyFitnessPal (a deal reported at over $40 million in trailing sales for Cal AI), though it’s staying live as a standalone app with continued independent investment rather than being folded in. Beyond meal logging, it has a body-composition analyzer — you capture front and side photos and it estimates body fat percentage and breaks down essential vs. non-essential fat and lean mass, then tracks that over time. Some testing has found it can underestimate calories on certain foods, and food-scanning results specifically require a paid subscription to unlock, so the free tier is more limited than the marketing suggests
